Whiskey Walnut Blondies

Ingredients

  • 1 stick (or 4 ounces) of butter
  • 1 cup of packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 12 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extra
  • 2 tablespoons of whiskey
  • 1 cup of all purpose flour
  • 12 cup of roughly chopped walnuts
  • Optional: 14-12 cup of chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350℉. Lightly butter (or oil) an 8 or 9 inch square baking pan.
  2. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat on the stove1.
  3. Pour the browned butter into a bowl with the brown sugar. Let cool for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Beat the brown sugar/butter mixture using a hand (or stand) mixer until well combined.
  5. Add the egg and continue to beat until well combined and fluffy (for 2-4 minutes).
  6. Add the whiskey, vanilla extract, and salt and beat for another 2 minutes.
  7. Add the flour and beat until well combined.
  8. Fold in the chopped walnuts and (optional) chocolate chips.
  9. Spread the mixture into your buttered/oiled pan and bake for 25 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.
1Brown the butter by melting it on the stove until it becomes a golden caramel color This will take several minutes and it's easiest to keep swirling the pan with your hand while it browns. Be carful not to burn it.
